Great Calligraphic Panes


Great round calligraphic panes which are hanging on the walls of the main space are written by kadi-ul asker Mustafa Izzet Effendi who is one of them most famous calligraphers of that period during the renovation work performed between 1847 and 1849 in the reign of Sultan Abdulmecid. The round calligraphic panes which are 7,5 meter in diameters are made from hemp and written in gilt on green background. There are eight panes where God, the names of Prophet Muhammad, four caliphs, i.e., Prophet Ali, Prophet Omar, Prophet Osman and Prophet Ebu Bekir and the grandsons of Prophet Hasan and Prophet Hussein are written.
