Only three of the Patriarch figures have survived in good condition today which are made of mosaics and located in half arch niches on the Tympanon wall of the northern side of Hagia Sophia. The first niche belongs to Istanbul Patriarch Young Ignatius, fourth niche belongs to Istanbul Patriarch Saint Ioannis Chrysostomos while the sixth niche belongs to Antioch Patriarch Saint Ignatius Theophorus. It is believed that the mosaic pieces which can be seen on the seventh niche belongs to Athanasios. Although the certain construction date of the mosaics are unknown, these mosaics are dated back to the 9th – 10th century.
